2026 has been a pretty big year for us.
luketom is 25 years old.
A quarter of a century of websites, graphic design, development, technology, ideas, problem solving and more cups of tea than we’d care to count.
But rather than simply looking back, we thought 25 years was the perfect time to look forward too. So alongside celebrating where we’ve come from, we’re proud to introduce the next evolution of our business – luketom Digital Solutions.
It all started in 2001…
Luke and Tom both started their careers in the world of graphic design.
Then, towards the end of the 1990s, something was beginning to change. Businesses were starting to talk about this strange new thing called the internet. Websites were appearing, technology was moving quickly and it became pretty obvious to us that this digital thing might just catch on.
So in 2001, luketom was born.

Where it all began. Luke & Tom in the early days of the business – an image that went on to inspire our original luketom identity and logo.
Back then, websites looked very different. There were no smartphones, no social media feeds to worry about and certainly nobody asking us whether their website was Ai-ready.
Google itself was only a few years old.
We couldn’t have predicted exactly where the internet would take us, but we knew we wanted to be part of it.
From web design to digital solutions
A lot has changed since those early days – including us.
Over the last 25 years, luketom has evolved from our graphic design beginnings into a digital business working across web design, bespoke development, e-commerce, SEO, branding, hosting and increasingly sophisticated online solutions.
We’ve worked with businesses large and small across Torbay, Devon, the South West and much further afield. Some of our clients have been with us for a huge part of that journey.
We’ve also worked from a few different locations along the way.

Luke & Tom at Torquay Harbour, around 2010-13 – back when our offices overlooked the harbourside. And no, unfortunately we didn’t really have a council sign for luketom pointing people to our offices!
Then there have been plenty of opportunities to look beyond Devon too.
The technology has changed beyond recognition. Our team has grown. Our services have expanded. And our logo has certainly had a few changes along the way…
But we’ve never forgotten our graphic design roots
While digital has become an increasingly large part of what we do, graphic design has never disappeared from luketom.
It’s where both Luke and Tom started and 25 years later it’s still an important part of the business.
Today we continue to work with a strong base of clients across traditional and digital design – from branding, brochures, advertising and marketing materials through to much larger creative projects.
That includes producing interpretation panels and associated design work for National Landscapes, formerly the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, helping communicate the stories, landscapes, wildlife and heritage of this amazing part of the country.

Our graphic design roots are still very much alive – including interpretation and visitor information design for National Landscapes across South Devon.
We also continue to support local publishers and publications with design work, including County Magazines, alongside many other businesses throughout the region.
For us, having that graphic design background has always been an advantage. Good digital design isn’t just about code and technology – it’s about understanding typography, layout, imagery, branding and how people interact with what they see.
Those fundamentals haven’t changed since 2001.

Looking back through our old branding is a pretty good snapshot of how luketom itself has evolved.

25 years of luketom – three identities, one business and a lot of change in between.
The new identity is different, but the business behind it isn’t.
We’re still independent. Still based here in Torbay. Still hands-on. And Luke and Tom are still very much at the heart of the business 25 years later.
And now there’s Ai…
If the arrival of the internet changed our industry once, Ai is doing it all over again.
The difference this time is the speed.
Ai isn’t changing web design and development year by year or even month by month. We’re seeing new tools, capabilities and possibilities emerge almost daily.
For us, that’s exciting.
We’re already embracing the best Ai-assisted development, coding and creative technologies available – not because Ai replaces the experience we’ve built over 25 years, but because combining the two allows us to do more.
It helps us develop smarter solutions, explore ideas faster, streamline processes and create better digital experiences for our clients.
And we’re only at the beginning.
25 years of experience.
Still looking forward.
Reaching our 25th anniversary in 2026 felt like the perfect time to take another look at luketom and how our brand represents the business we’ve become.
Our previous identity served us incredibly well for many years, but just as the digital world has evolved, so have we. The launch of luketom Digital Solutions introduces a completely new logo and identity – cleaner, sharper and with a more contemporary, high-tech feel that better reflects the digital solutions we deliver today.
But underneath the new look, we’re still luketom.
The people haven’t changed. The experience hasn’t changed. The personal approach hasn’t changed. And at the heart of everything we do is still what started this whole journey back in 2001 – designing and building great websites.
Whether everyone loves the new logo quite as much as we do, we’ll leave that up to them! But after 25 years in an industry that never stands still, we think continuing to move with the times can only be a good thing.
Our new brand isn’t about changing who we are. It’s about reflecting who we’ve become and where we’re going next.
